Prison inmate death resulted from the institution’s indifference to his serious medical needs.Plaintiff complained for nearly a year about severe abdominal pain, dramatic weight loss, and an inability to consume solid food for often 3-4 days at a time. The defendant’s omission in providing adequate, emergency medical care caused the plaintiff to suffer and ultimately contributed to the plaintiff’s death within 24 hours of the facility finally calling for an ambulance to take the plaintiff to the hospital. Settlement was achieved for $210,000 on the event of a federal trial to commence days later. – JM.
