Concluding the three-part blog 5 Indications You May Have Been the Victim of Malpractice, below we discuss two final signs that patients may have been injured by the mistakes made by doctors or other health care professionals.
Sign 4: You don’t get better after treatment
In addition to symptoms not matching a diagnosis, another common sign of a misdiagnosis is that the treatments patients are receiving are not resulting in health improvements. It’s important to point out here that not all patients get better with treatment even when the proper diagnoses are made and all of the right treatments are administered.
However, if you have been diagnosed with a condition, you are receiving treatments, and your health seems to be getting substantial worse, it’s time to question whether you were properly diagnosed and whether you are receiving the appropriate treatments for your condition. At this point, it can be extremely helpful to get one or more additional opinions from other doctors. You may be surprised at what another health care professional has to say about your condition.
Sign 5: Another doctor has a completely different diagnosis of your condition
Although doctors’ opinions regarding the severity of a condition and the appropriate courses of treatment may vary slightly, they should not be dramatically different if the condition has been properly diagnosed. When two different doctors or health care specialists are saying two remarkably different things about what you may have and what you should do to treat your condition, one – or both – of these professionals may be wrong, and you may have been the victim of malpractice.
If you have noticed any of the signs of malpractice discussed here, it may be time to meet with an experienced malpractice attorney for a thorough case evaluation.
