This case was the death of a county jail inmate for denial of health care while incarcerated.
The decedent was a known diabetic and held in county jail for the misdemeanor charge of wrongly taking and hooking up electricity for his family. The jail personnel and consulting physician failed to provide insulin treatment. The decedent suffered from vomiting and dehydration prior to his death. Settlement of $300,000 as to all defendants for the decedent’s estate.
