Getting a driver’s license for the first time is undoubtedly an important milestone for teenagers, as this important step towards adulthood conveys a new sense of freedom and power to teens. Despite this excitement, however, it’s important for new teen drivers – as well as their parents – to be aware of the fact teens’ inexperience with driving can be particularly risky for everyone on the road.

- About 11 teenagers sustain fatal car accident injuries every day in the U.S. as a result of other teen drivers using their cellphones while driving.
What can be just as alarming as these statistics is the fact that these accidents and deaths are entirely preventable if teen drivers simply commit to being focused on the task of driving and refrain from using their cellphone whenever they are driving.
Cause 2: Speeding
Another common (and entirely avoidable) cause of teen driver car accidents is reportedly speeding, according to the NHTSA. In fact, speeding reportedly contributed to about 35 percent of all fatal car accidents in which a teen driver was involved.
