A 75-year-old cab driver who hit and killed a pedestrian crossing the street this past Monday has a history of speeding tickets and reckless driving, according preliminary police reports associated with the case. The fatal car accident occurred late Monday evening as the cab driver was speeding down Cicero Avenue when he hit a 56-year-old man who was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk; it is not clear at this time whether the victim was crossing at a signal or whether he was jaywalking. However, what is clear is that the impact of the cab caused fatal injuries that ultimately caused the pedestrian to be pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. According to a witness at the scene, the cab driver expressed no concern for the victim and instead kept repeating that he did not want to go to jail.
