The intent is to reduce motorcycle accidents by increasing drivers’ awareness and skills.
Perhaps just as compelling as the lofty goals of this proposed motorcycle safety law are the statistics regarding motorcycle accidents and at least one other vehicle. In fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
This could indicate that other motorists actions are often to blame for fatal motorcycle accidents and that, possibly, mandating further drivers education for new drivers may help prevent some collisions – and save lives.
